The 2014-15 Backcountry Avalanche Workshop (BAW) road tour will be targetting southern BC and Alberta this fall.

Sponsored by Labatts Brewery, the BAW is a free, 2-hour, evening presentation delivered by an Avalanche Canada forecaster on avalanche awareness open to any backcountry recreationist. This is a great pre-season tune-up where you can refresh your skills or learn new ones. Please check back as the schedule (venue, dates and times) will be updated through the season.

Here are some of last year's comments:

  • "Excellent presentation! It will encourage people to take an avalanche course." Courtenay, BC
  • "Informative and well balanced. Super! Bring on the snow!" Courtenay, BC
  • "Very informative. A great refresher and well worth the time. I appreciated the interactive route-finding exercise" Courtenay
  • "A good reminder to stay up to date with avalanche rescue and prevention techniques" Squamish
