If you are a snowmobiler who ventures into avalanche terrain, consider signing up for an Avalanche Skills Training (AST) course. You will find a list of providers on our website here. If you would like an introduction to sledding safely in the backcountry, come out to one of the Avalanche Canada-sponsored, two-hour safety seminars listed below. You can also check out Avalanche Awareness Days, Backcountry Avalanche Workshops, presentations at the western Canada snowmobile tradeshows or events hosted by our sponsors, snowmobile manufacturers, and community partners (see attachments on the right side of this page).

Feeling short on time? Take a one-day, field-based Companion Rescue Skills course. This course is a great first step into avalanche training and is also an excellent refresher. All avalanche professionals train each year in companion rescue skills. So should you! Check with your local AST Provider for their course schedule, or have an AST Provider come to your local sled club and deliver this essential course to your members.

Snowmobile Shows:
ASA Snowmobile Show, Edmonton, Oct. 17 - 19, 2014
Saskatoon Snowmobile Show, Nov. 7 - 9 , 2014

Looking for an avalanche outreach event in your community?
Avalanche Canada presents at various events throughout the winter season. If you are interested in having an avalanche outreach event in your community or with your local club, please contact us. We may have a forecaster or outreach personnel in the area. If not, we are requesting cost recovery from the community or organization that makes the booking. Each event is looked at individually to estimate costs.
